Newark Girl, 4, Was ‘Playing’ Before Fall Out Window: Police
Thursday's incident is the second serious fall this month in Newark involving a young child.

NEWARK, NJ — A 4-year-old girl is in critical condition after falling out a fourth-floor window of a building on Branford Place late Thursday evening, authorities said.
Newark police officers responded to a building in the 100-block of Branford Place around 10:05 p.m. after receiving a call that a young girl fell out a window. The girl was reportedly playing in an upstairs area at the time, the Newark Department of Public Safety stated.
Emergency responders transported the girl to University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. She was listed in critical condition, authorities said Friday.

Police are investigating the incident; no additional information was immediately available.

On May 8, Yodia Encarnacion, 6, fell three stories through an open window in Newark that may have had a screen, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office. She was allegedly jumping on the bed with several other children prior to the fall.
