Newark Man, 22, Found After Search Near Passaic River (UPDATE)

UPDATE: Newark authorities say that Calvin Jones, 22, has been found. Police searched near the Passaic River; Jones was found in NYC.

NEWARK, NJ — UPDATE: Newark police announced late Thursday evening that Calvin Jones was found in New York City. Our original article follows below.

Newark authorities are asking for the public’s help locating a 22-year-old local man. He was reported missing on Wednesday, police said.

Calvin Jones, 22, of Newark, was last seen at 7 a.m. in the area of 8th Avenue and Spring Street. He was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt, black coat, black jeans and sneakers, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety. (See below photo)

Newark police provided the following statement about Jones on Thursday evening:

"He is known to frequent New York; however, due to recent events it is believed that Jones may be a risk to himself. Police continued a search along the Passaic River today after being advised that Jones’ family members located some of his personal belongings near the river yesterday. We seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating him and ensuring his safety."
