Newark Man, 33, Fatally Shot; Police Investigation Continues

No arrests have been made as of Friday, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — A fatal shooting in Newark claimed the life of a 33-year-old man early Friday morning, authorities said.

The victim has been identified as Khalif McDaniel, 33, of Newark, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

“On January 6 at 12:22 a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting on the 500-block of South Orange Avenue and South 20th Street. The victim was found there suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 1:24 a.m.”

No arrests have been made, authorities said.
