Newark Man Accused Of Killing His Wife At Their Home: Prosecutor
Police arrested the deceased woman's husband. He's been charged with first-degree murder, authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — Police arrested a Newark man and charged him with first-degree murder after he allegedly killed his wife at their home on Thursday, authorities said.
Jose Lasso Guaman has been accused of attacking Maria Lasso, 45, at their home on Polk Street, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Public Safety Department.
Lasso sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:45 a.m., authorities said.

Police arrested Lasso Guaman on Thursday. He was charged with first-degree murder, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and is being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating Lasso’s death. Anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
