Newark Man Accused Of Shooting Two People: Police

Officers patrolling near South Orange Avenue and Telford Street heard shots fired and saw people running from Salem Street, police said.

NEWARK, NJ — Police arrested a man accused of shooting two people in Newark, authorities announced Thursday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, Daniel King-Franklin, 22, of Newark, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection with a double shooting that took place on Tuesday.

Officers patrolling the area of South Orange Avenue and Telford Street heard shots fired and saw people running from Salem Street around 4:30 p.m., police said.

Officers found two male victims at the scene. Emergency responders transported both of them to University Hospital for treatment, authorities stated.
