Newark Man Allegedly Found with $90K Worth of Drugs
Derrick Powell, 38, charged with drug offenses
Officers executing a search warrant Monday in Newark's North Ward arrested a city man allegedly in possession of drugs worth roughly $90,000.
Derrick Powell, 38, was charged with possession of a controlled and dangerous substance and possession with intent to distribute, according to Newark Det. Eugenio Gonzalez, a police spokesman.
He said the officers executed the warrant on a Second Avenue apartment around 11:20 p.m. and seized more than 3,500 Oxycontin, Xanax and Morphine prescription pills.

"I commend the detectives for their dedication in confiscating these pills and removing them from the community," said Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio.
