Newark Man Arrested, Charged With 22 Car Burglaries
Police arrested a 20-year-old Newark man suspected of committing 22 vehicle burglaries and two car thefts in Montclair.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Montclair police have arrested a 20-year-old Newark man suspected of committing 22 vehicle burglaries and two car thefts in the township, authorities say.
According to the Montclair Police Department, officers responded to Wildwood Avenue on July 14 after receiving a report about a person looking into parked vehicles.
Montclair officers working a construction detail saw a man fitting the description of the suspect, later identified as Danny Gonzalez, 20, of Newark, in the area at the time, which helped lead to his apprehension.

Police found Gonzalez in possession of burglary tools and alleged proceeds from several recent thefts. Officers also processed Gonzalez for a theft of a motor vehicle charge from a 2016 Lorraine Avenue incident, authorities said.
“Through investigation, Gonzalez was discovered to have been responsible for 22 vehicle burglaries and the theft of two motor vehicles in Montclair,” police alleged in a statement.

The burglaries occurred in the areas of Cooper Avenue, Gordonhurst Avenue, Marion Road and Beverly Road, police said.
Authorities charged Gonzalez with 13 counts of burglary and 15 counts of theft.
