Newark Man Dies After Being Shot In Weequahic Park: Cops
Authorities in Essex County are offering a $10,000 reward for info that leads to an arrest/conviction.

NEWARK, NJ — A 25-year-old man died from his injuries Monday evening after being shot in Weequahic Park in Newark that morning, authorities said.
Essex County Sheriff’s officers found Godfrey J. Jones Jr., 25, of Newark, on a bench in the park. He was shot around 9:15 a.m., according to a joint statement from Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert Laurino and Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura.
Jones passed away from his injuries at University Hospital at 5:27 p.m., authorities said.

A police investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made as of Tuesday, authorities said.
