Newark Man Pointed Gun At Woman, Fled Scene: Police

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police recently apprehended two people after they fled from officers and entered a local home. One allegedly pointed a gun at a woman during an argument beforehand, authorities said.

Mahdee Carter, 30, and Aljamir Parrish-Williams, 20, both of Newark, were arrested on Wednesday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, officers responded to the area of Market Street and Littleton Avenue around 1:15 p.m. after getting a call about a man pointing a gun at a woman following a dispute. The man then fled the scene in a white Nissan Altima driven by a woman who had participated in the quarrel with the victim.

Here’s what happened next, Newark police said:

“Responding officers observed the suspect vehicle and attempted a motor vehicle stop at Littleton Avenue, near Cabinet Street. Carter and Parrish-Williams exited the vehicle and fled inside a residence, disregarding police commands to stop. Members of the Newark Police Emergency Response Team responded to the scene and negotiated with the two suspects to exit the residence. Both Carter and Parrish-Williams were taken into custody without further incident.”

Carter was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and obstruction of the administration of the law.

Parrish-Williams was charged with obstruction of the administration of the law.
