NEWARK, NJ — A Newark man has been accused of robbing the drive-thru at a local Taco Bell restaurant at gunpoint on Tuesday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, Deion Nance, 25, of Newark, was arrested in connection with an armed robbery that took place at Taco Bell on Broad Street.

Newark police said that a man later identified as Nance entered the drive-thru window around 2:40 p.m. and demanded cash from the employee at gunpoint.

The victim complied, handing over $176 in cash before the suspect drove off, heading east on Clay Street from Broad Street. He was apprehended at Route 280 after officers saw his vehicle, which fit the description of the one used in the robbery, police said.

Nance was charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
