Newark Man Sentenced After Fatal ‘Ambush’ In East Orange: ECPO
An assailant chased his victim down the street with a knife – stabbing him at least 10 times, Essex County prosecutors said.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A Newark resident has been sentenced to seven years in state prison after he fatally stabbed a victim in East Orange three years ago, authorities announced last week.
Dwayne Barbour, 34, of Newark, “ambushed” Daren Brooks, 31, on May 24, 2022 and chased him down the street with a knife – stabbing him at least 10 times, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office,
A jury convicted Barbour of aggravated assault and weapons charges on April 4.

Barbour must serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole, prosecutors said.
