Newark Man Was Robbed By Suspect He Met On Dating Website, Police Say

Newark police are searching for a suspect who allegedly committed a home invasion along with two other people.

NEWARK, NJ -- A Newark man was recently robbed at his home by someone he met on a dating website, police announced Thursday.

Newark police are searching for a suspect who allegedly committed the home invasion along with two other people on May 18.

Authorities released the following statement about the robbery:

"At approximately 4:20 a.m., a male victim invited the suspect, whom he had met on a dating website, to his home in the 200-block of Shephard Avenue. The suspect entered the apartment, left after visiting for only a few minutes, and returned shortly afterwards with two other suspects. The three suspects robbed and assaulted the victim, taking his wallet and other personal property."

Newark police released photos of the first suspect, which can be seen below. He is 5 feet 8 inches and has a thin build, a dark skin complexion and a slight beard. He was wearing a black hat, a black and white jacket, and black and white sneakers.
