Newark Mayor's Mom Gets Threatening Letters Meant For Her Son

The letters, meant for Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, were discovered in a stack of mail at his mother's Essex County home.

Newark, NJ – For Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, here’s the worst part about a pair of recently received threatening letters… they were sent to his mother’s house.

During a Monday press conference, Baraka said that the letters, originally sent in October, were found in a stack of mail mistakenly hand-delivered to him at his mother’s South Ward home.

“What’s more frightening to me more than about my own safety is, I’m really more concerned about people going to my mother’s home,” Baraka said.

The mayor didn’t elaborate on the exact verbiage of the letters, which allegedly made threats to his safety and city facilities, but stated that he believed a single person wrote both, NJ.com reported.

“It makes me wonder about more than my own safety,” he said. “We don’t take this lightly.”
