Newark Men Dead: Police Seek Help Identifying Family Members
Newark police need help find the family members of two deceased males: Marcos Evangelista Ortiz, 69, and Hector B. Torres, 62.

Newark, NJ - Newark police are requesting the public’s help in finding the family members of two deceased males: Marcos Evangelista Ortiz, 69, and Hector B. Torres, 62.
According to police, on March 10, officers responded to 167 Ferry Street, where they found Ortiz – a Hispanic male - unresponsive on the floor next to his bed. Emergency responders transported Ortiz to University Hospital where he later died.
On March 14, officers found Torres – a Hispanic male – deceased on the floor in his apartment at 302-304 Osborne Terrace. Officers were reportedly advised that Torres had medical issues and hadn’t been seen in a few days.

According to police, there were no signs of foul play in either death. However, the medical examiner has yet to confirm the cause and manner of death for both men.
Police have followed up on several possible addresses for the decedents’ relatives to no avail, authorities stated. Anyone who may have information about the above-mentioned next-of-kin can contact the Police Division’s Robbery Section at (973) 733-4439.
