Newark Named To Another 'Best Of' List For Foodies, 'Mediterranean Flavors' Earn City's Restaurants A Nod
One of America's best-kept culinary secrets can be found in Essex County, a new report says.
NEWARK, NJ — New Jersey’s largest city was recently named as one of “America’s best-kept culinary secrets.”
On Monday, Wandertrivia.com shared a list of 10 U.S. cities with “little-known culinary scenes that food experts absolutely love.” Read it here.
The list included Newark. Here’s what the publication had to say about cuisine in the Brick City:

“If you’re a fan of Mediterranean flavors, Newark, New Jersey, should be at the top of your foodie list. The city serves up some of the best dishes with Portuguese and Spanish roots, but that’s just the beginning! You’ll also discover incredible Italian, Brazilian, and Puerto Rican specialties. Honestly, just thinking about it is enough to make anyone’s mouth water!”
Other cities named to the list include Columbus (Ohio), Detroit and Omaha.

Newark has found itself named to other foodie-related lists over the years, including nods as one of the nation’s top barbecue destinations, a playground for pizza lovers, and a hot spot for hot dogs.
