NEWARK, NJ — Newark needs school crossing guards. And the Newark Police Division is hiring, officials say.
On Monday, the Newark Police Department announced that it’s hiring “responsible men and women to assist parents and children in safely crossing streets as they arrive to and depart from school each day.”
According to the police advisory, school crossing guards are also authorized to direct drivers on when to stop and when to continue moving along roadways near schools where students cross.

The salary is $15 per hour, working Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. To apply, call 973-733-7908.
