Newark Police Car Engulfed In Flames, Officer Escapes Unharmed

NEWARK, NJ — A Newark police car was engulfed in flames after an electrical malfunction on Wednesday, authorities said.
The fire took place around 3:20 p.m. when a Newark Police Division vehicle assigned to the 1st Precinct experienced an electrical fire on the 200-block of Bergen Street, authorities said.
The officer driving the vehicle pulled over and exited safely. Members of the Newark Fire Division responded and immediately extinguished the flames, authorities stated.

The officer wasn't injured. There were no other injuries or property damage as a result of the vehicle fire, Newark police said.
