Missing Newark Girl, 13, Found Unharmed After Police Ask For Help

UPDATE: A Newark teen who was reported missing, possibly headed to NYC, has been found, police said.

Newark police are asking for the public’s help finding a missing girl who may have gone to New York City, authorities reported Tuesday evening.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, Lalilani Vargas, 13, of Newark, who was reported missing from the 100-block of Martin Luther King Boulevard on Monday.

Vargas was last seen at 7:40 p.m. wearing a black and yellow plaid shirt, brown crop top, light denim jean jacket, black Nike sneakers, black small nap sack with red lips on it, and a black baseball cap, police said.

She may have been headed to Queens, NY via public transportation, authorities said.
