NEWARK, NJ — Newark police continue their search for a local resident who was reported missing more than a month ago, authorities reported Friday.

Segundo “Cuba” Aponte, 81, of Newark, was reported missing on Dec. 7. The Newark Department of Public Safety is seeking help finding Aponte and returning him to his family.

Aponte, who is deaf, was last seen on Nov. 26, police said.

Aponte lives on South 18th Street and frequents the 100-block of Roseville Avenue. He is 5 feet 8 inches and 175 pounds, with a dark-brown skin complexion, gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing an army jacket, gray dress pants and a brown scarf, authorities said.

“Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly locating Mr. Aponte and returning him to his family,” police said.
