Newark Police Seek Apartment Burglary Suspect

Newark authorities are asking for the public's help finding a suspected burglar who allegedly broke into a Stuyvesant Avenue home.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark authorities are asking for the public’s help finding a suspected burglar who allegedly broke into a Stuyvesant Avenue home.

According to a statement from the Newark Department of Public Safety, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Daquan Gary, 19, in connection with a burglary that took place between Wednesday, April 4 and Sunday, April 8.

The NDPS stated:

“Police responded to a Stuyvesant Avenue residence on a burglary report. The victim reported that the apartment had been broken into and personal items and electronics were stolen. Detectives investigating this incident developed sufficient evidence to identify Gary as a suspect and secured a warrant for his arrest on a charge of burglary.”

Police said that Gary is 6 feet 4 inches and 263 pounds with a light skin complexion, brown eyes and black hair. (See below photo)

“While police are actively searching for Gary, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from our streets,” the NDPS stated.

A police investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Gary can call the Department's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477) or 1-877-NWK-GUNS (1-877-695-4867). Anonymous tips may also be made using the Police Division’s website at www.newarkpd.org or through its smartphone app.
