Newark Prostitution Bust Nabs 10 Essex County Residents: Police

Newark police arrested 10 people for alleged prostitution charges during a complaint-inspired sting operation in Essex County.

Authorities arrested 10 people – including multiple Belleville residents – for allegedly participating in prostitution during a complaint-inspired sting operation on Sunday.

According to the Newark Police Department, the bust was in response to anonymous complaints from citizens living in the area of Wainwright Street between Chancellor and Lyons avenues in the south district, as well as residents of Broadway and Irving in the north district.

Other such operations are planned, police stated in a news release.

The following people were arrested for allegedly participating in prostitution:

  • Manuel Ramirez, 25, of Newark
  • Andrixson Suero, 44, of Belleville
  • Franklin Soto, 23, of Belleville
  • Rayray Toledo, 23, of Newark
  • John Buonopane, 35, of Nutley
  • Carlos Bausa, 62, of Kearny
  • Alfaro Erwing, 27, of Newark
  • Robert Rispoli, 55, of Belleville
  • Josviany Gomez, 20, of Newark
  • Luis A. Ramos, 26, of Newark
  • Gilbert Duchesne, 41, of Newark
  • Andy Torres, 30, of Newark

In addition to the prostitution arrests, police also arrested six people for wandering with the intent to purchase narcotics and three people for having open bench warrants.
