Newark Resident Found With Fatal Gunshot Wound: Authorities

Police found a Newark man with a fatal gunshot last weekend, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — A Newark man died after being found with a gunshot wound in the city last weekend, authorities said.

Newark police responded to the 200-block of Orange Street at 11:29 p.m. on Friday, where they found Nadir Key, 29, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Key was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:54 a.m.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
