Newark Resident Stabbed To Death; Cops Make Arrest: Prosecutor

A Newark resident was stabbed to death last weekend, authorities announced Monday.

NEWARK, NJ — A Newark resident was stabbed to death last weekend, authorities announced Monday.

James Dunlap was fatally stabbed at 47 Miller Street in Newark on Saturday, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Dathan Cuascut, 39, also of Newark, has been arrested and charged with murder, unlawful possession of weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection with the stabbing, prosecutors said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal stabbing. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
