Newark Residents With Special Needs Can Register For NJ Database

Newark police/fire officials are encouraging residents with special needs or their caretakers to sign up for a confidential database.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police and fire officials are reaching out to local residents with special needs. And they’re reminding Newarkers about a community resource that can help the effort: the NJ Registry Ready.

City officials released the following advisory on Wednesday:

“The Newark Department of Public Safety would like to better serve the needs of individuals with special needs. NJ Registry Ready is a statewide database that gives residents and their caregivers an opportunity to provide information that can assist them in the event of any emergency. Registering yourself or a loved one with special needs will enhance the communication and response skills of Newark police, firefighters, emergency services workers, and others who may interact with an individual with special needs. The information will remain strictly confidential.”
