Newark School Bus Crash Is 2nd This Week

Five charter school students were aboard the bus at the time, administrators told Patch.

Newark, NJ – For the second time in a week, a bus carrying Newark schoolchildren was involved in a crash.

On Tuesday, Newark school administrators provided Patch with the following statement:

“This morning a contractor-operated bus carrying five Newark charter school students was involved in an incident. All parents have been notified and we are working with the Newark Police Department to investigate this matter.”

School administrators added:

“Furthermore, district officials will be meeting with our bus vendors this week regarding the safety of our students and their transportation services during the winter months.”

The crash was the second reported incident involving Newark students aboard a bus in a week.

On Jan. 27, a school bus carrying six Newark charter school students was involved in an accident on Wednesday morning that resulted in hospital visits for three of the passengers.
