Newark has seen three deadly shootings in the span of a week, authorities say.
NEWARK, NJ — Newark has seen three deadly shootings in the span of a week, authorities say.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the latest shooting took place early Monday morning. It left one man dead and another injured.
Police responded to the 100-block of Riverview Court at 12:10 a.m. after getting a report about a shooting. Officers found Jamid Hardgrove, 22, of Newark, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 1:02 a.m.

The other male victim was taken to University Hospital and treated for non-fatal injuries, authorities said.
No arrests have been made as of Monday. An investigation continues.

VICTIM FOUND IN CAR
Another fatal shooting took place on Friday in Newark, authorities said.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Newark police responded to the 100-block of Lindsley Avenue at 2:35 a.m. after getting a report about a shooting.
Shortly afterwards, police got a separate report about a motor vehicle accident on the 200-block of Sunset Avenue in Newark. Police responded to the accident scene and found Wesley Murphy, 37, of Newark, in a car suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 3:14 a.m.
DECEASED BODY FOUND
On May 15 – the week before Monday’s fatal shooting – deadly gunfire in Newark claimed the life of a 33-year-old man.
Police responded to the 600-block of Frelinghuysen Avenue after getting a report about a deceased body in the area. The officers found Anthony Damico, 33, of Newark, with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:17 a.m.
