Newark Students Hold 2nd School Walkout On Gun Violence
Students in New Jersey's largest city rallied at City Hall in solidarity with a national day of protest against gun violence.

NEWARK, NJ — Students in New Jersey’s largest city walked out of class and met for a rally at City Hall on Friday in solidarity with a national day of protest against gun violence.
The rally was embraced by Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, who commended the students for their “courage and persistence in the fight against gun violence.”
Baraka told the students:

"The adults in office and out of office don't have the kind of commitment or capacity to solve these problems, obviously. So it's going to take you to be loud enough to pull those people out of White House and Congress, as well, to get some sensible gun legislation to protect us.”
Students throughout the Newark Public School District participated in a separate walkout against gun violence on March 14.
