Newark Teachers Can Apply for Slices of $100M Donation

Application deadline is Dec. 5

The Foundation for Newark's Future now is accepting applications for the Newark Teacher Innovation Fund — a two-year, $600,000 initiative to encourage creative classroom methods.

Teachers can apply online until Dec. 5 for up to $10,000 slices of the cash.

"This initiative seeks to support the most innovative and individualized approaches for addressing the needs of children throughout our city, as designed by the people who spend every day guiding and observing their learning experience," said Gregory Taylor, the foundation's chief executive officer in a statement.

The money is part of the $100 million donated by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to Newark schools last year. Foundation for Newark's Future is the philanthropy group that manages the cash.
