Newark Teen Dies After Shooting At House Party: Authorities

A Newark teen was fatally shot during a house party on Schley Street, police said.

NEWARK, NJ — A Newark teen passed away after he was shot at a house party on Sunday night, authorities said.

Jaheem White, 17, of Newark, was fatally shot during a party on the 300-block of Schley Street at 11:17 p.m., according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

According to a preliminary investigation, officers responded to the home late Sunday night after receiving a report of a shooting in progress. When they arrived, the officers found the victim in the home suffering from gunshot wounds.

Emergency responders transported White to University Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 11:44 p.m., authorities said.
