Penson easily qualifies for the designation, according to Rutgers University:

“[Jeriel] was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in January of 2021. After an initial round of treatment, and a clean bill of health, the freshman at the Newark School of Fashion & Design, had a relapse earlier this year. This time he had a form of blood cancer that would require a stem cell transplant in August, followed by another round of chemotherapy, which Jeriel is receiving at this time.”

After arriving on the Rutgers University campus, Penson was immersed in a full lineup of Rutgers Football Game Day activities. His experience included leading the pre-game parade down to Scarlet Knight Way, and enjoying a prime spot in the high-five line greeting Coach Greg Schiano and the team as they got off their buses.
