Police Save Suicidal Teen From Jumping Off Newark Hotel Ledge
Newark police officers saved a teen who planned to jump off a ledge at the Robert Treat Hotel, authorities say.

NEWARK, NJ — With some choice words, a dose of human empathy and some quick reflexes, police officers managed to save an allegedly suicidal teen from his plans to jump off a ledge at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark on Sunday, authorities say.
According to the Newark Police Department, officers responded to the Robert Treat Hotel at 50 Park Place around 11:30 a.m. on a call of a trespasser at the property. Once on scene, the officers encountered a 19-year-old male who had climbed onto a ledge outside a hotel room window.
The officers calmly confronted the “distraught” teen while slowly inching closer to his place at the window. Then, once they were close enough, the officers reached out, grabbed the teen and pulled him to safety through the window, NJ.com reported.
