Newark businesses now have a way of showing their customers that they support the lesbian, gay and transgender communities.
On Friday, the city unveiled its new “LGBTQ Friendly Business Decals” during a press conference at Vonda’s Kitchen in the city’s Central Ward.
The decals, which depict the rainbow-striped LGBTQ Pride flag, can be displayed by businesses throughout Newark to show their support of the gay community.

According to a release, the initiative to create and display the decal was spearheaded by the Newark LGBTQ Concern Commission, and is supported by the Newark Downtown District and Newark Community Economic Development Corporation.
“Here in Newark, we are showing our support of the LGBTQ community by welcoming them with open arms in our businesses and attractions, as residents and neighbors, and part of our greater community,” Mayor Ras Baraka said.
