Newark Will Get East Coast’s 1st Grammy Museum

The first official Grammy Museum outpost in New Jersey is set to open in Newark, developers say.

NEWARK, NJ — Get ready to get your Grammy on, Newark.

On Tuesday, the Grammy Museum and the Prudential Center announced a new partnership that will bring the first official Grammy Museum outpost on the East Coast to Newark by autumn of 2017.

The Newark Grammy Museum will feature an 8,000 square feet of exhibit space with interactive features, tributes to local music icons and a robust education center accessible for schools throughout the Tri-State area. The museum will also include a section that pays tribute to New Jersey’s homegrown entertainers, according to a joint news release.

Additional exhibits will include:

  • Roland LIVE, an area that provides visitors with a real-life simulation experience of performing onstage
  • Focused exhibits that unveil the mysteries behind the recording process
  • A how-to tutorial that teaches visitors how to rap while providing insight into the mixing/remixing song experience
  • A section dedicated to the annual GRAMMY Awards, as told through a timeline highlighting unforgettable moments in GRAMMY history
