Newark's West Ward Gets Renovated Rec Center: Boylan Street
The Boylan Street Rec Center now has a new basketball court, children's playground, "multi-purpose court" and a boxing gym.
Newark, NJ – Newark city officials and residents celebrated the re-opening of the newly renovated Boylan Street Recreation Center last week.
According to a city news release, the renovated center – located at 916 South Orange Avenue in the city’s West Ward - features:
- A new basketball court with adjustable goals, enabling them to be set between five feet and 10 feet to accommodate different age groups
- Renovation of the existing court to include adjustable goals
- A new children's playground (ages 4-7)
- A multi-purpose designed court, equipped with interchangeable netting to allow the community to play a variety of games such as tennis, volleyball and badminton
- New lighting to facilitate games and events into the dusk hours
- A new “state-of-the-art” boxing gym
