NJ Immigrants Can Learn About ‘Parole In Place’ At Free Workshops

There is a new pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, and many New Jersey residents could be eligible, advocates say.

NEW JERSEY — There is a new pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants in the United States – “parole in place” – and many New Jersey residents could be eligible, advocates say.

The Biden administration has opened a program that uses existing legal authority to grant some long-term U.S. residents married to U.S. citizens more protection from deportation, and provide other people with work authorization. It can also potentially give some immigrants a pathway to citizenship, according to Make the Road New Jersey.

“This program is the result of years of organizing efforts led by immigrant families,” the group said Tuesday. “Thousands of individuals in New Jersey could qualify.”
