N.J. Prison Guard Forced Sex On Female Inmate: Convicted
An Essex County man and former guard at the Essex County Correctional Facility was convicted of sexual assault, a report says.

A former Essex County jail guard was convicted of sexually assaulting a prisoner and lying to investigators about the incident on Friday, according to a report.
Shawn D. Shaw, a 42-year-old Newark resident, was found guilty of forcing sex on an inmate at the Essex County Correctional Facility while on duty as a law enforcement officer in December of 2010, NJ.com reported.
According to court records, Shaw was the only guard on duty during the overnight shift when the female prisoner was assaulted, NJ.com stated.

Prosecutors said that Shaw offered inmates rewards such as cigarettes if they would have sex with him.
When questioned about the incident, Shaw allegedly lied about making sexual comments to the victim or entering her cell, the US Attorney’s Office stated.
