NJ Train Riders See Ugly Delays Into NYC Due To Issues At Tunnel
Amtrak and NJ Transit reported delays over an hour due to problems at one of the Hudson River tunnels.

NEW JERSEY — Train riders trying to travel between New Jersey and New York City were hit with some ugly delays on Tuesday morning.
Amtrak and NJ Transit both reported delays over an hour due to issues at one of the Hudson River tunnels.
“As of 7:40 a.m., all service entering in and out of [Penn Station New York] will experience delays up to 90 minutes late due to a disabled commuter train blocking the route in the north tube,” Amtrak reported.

A FDNY spokesperson said a crew loaded passengers onto a rescue train after their train became stuck shortly after 7 a.m. There were no injuries, authorities said.
Meanwhile, several NJ Transit train lines were also seeing delays, the agency reported, noting that riders might want to try the bus or the PATH train instead:

“Rail service in and out of Penn Station New York is subject to up 60-minute delays due to Amtrak overhead wire issues in one of the Hudson River tunnels. Midtown Direct service is being diverted to Hoboken. NJ Transit rail tickets and passes are being cross-honored by NJ Transit bus and private carrier buses and PATH at Newark Penn Station, Hoboken, and 33rd Street New York.”
Midtown Direct service has resumed, but other delays continue, NJ Transit said in an update at 10 a.m.
