Several lanes were closed on the New Jersey Turnpike on Thursday after a serious crash, according to transportation officials.

A 58-year-old man was serously hurt in the crash at milepost 101 on the Turnpike, police said.

The crash happened on the outer roadway southbound in the vicinity of Interchange 13A - Newark Liberty International Airport in Elizabeth, according to officials.
