NJ Veterans Handbook: Sen. Booker Releases New Guide To State Benefits
The handbook includes information on health benefits, crisis support services, education programs and employment resources.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — U.S. Sen. Cory Booker released an updated version of his annual “Veterans Handbook” on Monday in an effort to give some guidance about available resources for New Jersey veterans and their families.
The handbook includes information on health benefits, crisis support services, federal and state education programs, and employment resources. It is designed to help New Jersey veterans transition to civilian life.

“Since our nation’s founding, the United States of America has been blessed with citizens willing to protect and defend our nation’s ideals at home and abroad,” said Booker, an Essex County resident.
“We owe veterans and their families an immeasurable debt,” the senator added.

There are 295,749 veterans in New Jersey, this year's handbook states. About 41 percent served in the Gulf War/OIF/OEF, 32.1 percent served in the Vietnam era, 22.2 percent served in "peacetime," and 4.7 percent served during the Korean War/World War II.
