NYC Entertainment Company Expanding Into NJ With Newark Show

The Velvet Ropes Group will be celebrating its five-year anniversary with its first live event since the pandemic hit.

NEWARK, NJ — The “velvet ropes” are stretching out to Newark.

The Velvet Ropes Group, an arts and entertainment company from Manhattan, will be celebrating its five-year anniversary with its first, live event since the coronavirus pandemic hit. And the New York-based company has picked the Brick City for its comeback show.

That concert will feature J Alvarez, who will perform a Halloween-inspired show at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29 at Marbella Lounge, 610 Broadway in Newark. (Learn more here)

According to a news release from the company, the pandemic closures affected its ability to generate business, but the team took time since March 2020 to realign and re-commit to their goals and mission.

That includes helping to host events like their “Influential Game,” a free basketball tournament in a local school gym to collect clothing and holiday toy donations.

Now, the company is trying to expand into New Jersey, with Newark one of its first stops.
