NYC Man Fatally Shot In Essex County, NJ: Authorities
A fatal shooting in Irvington claimed the life of a 61-year-old Brooklyn resident, authorities said.
IRVINGTON, NJ — A New York City resident was fatally shot in Essex County, New Jersey on Sunday, authorities said.
Police officers responded to Melville Place in Irvington at 2:32 a.m. after getting a report about a shooting at a local home. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound at the scene.
He was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead at 3:18 a.m., according to a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Irvington Public Safety Department.

Authorities identified the deceased man as Oliver A. Francis, 61, of Brooklyn, NY.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, which includes detectives from the Irvington Police Department, are investigating the shooting. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s tip line at 877-847-7432.
