Passenger Faints In Newark Airport: Authorities

The man's family members initially reported feeling sick as well but refused medical attention, Newark Airport authorities say.

Newark, NJ – A senior citizen traveling to the Dominican Republic fainted and required emergency medical treatment on Monday morning at Newark Liberty International Airport, authorities stated.

Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo told Patch that a 65-year-old passenger was preparing to board a United Airlines flight with six other family members when he fainted around 7:30 a.m.

Port Authority police then called an ambulance and emergency responders transported the passenger to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Pentangelo said.

His family members reportedly told emergency responders that the man suffers from an anxiety-related condition, according to Pentangelo.

The other six members of his family initially reported feeling sick as well, but refused medical attention, Pentangelo added.

There were no disruptions to normal airport activity as a result of the medical emergency, the spokesman told Patch.
