PATH Suspensions In North Jersey Will Impact Riders At 3 Stations: Here's Why They're Needed
North Jersey commuters are also seeing construction-related disruptions to NJ Transit and the AirTrain in Newark this winter.
PATH riders who travel between three busy stations in North Jersey may find themselves taking shuttle buses instead on five weekends in February, March and April.
According to the Port Authority, service suspensions on the PATH will impact Harrison Station, in addition to Journal Square Station and Grove Street Station in Jersey City.
Service to all other stations will operate normally, including between Newark and Harrison.

The partial service suspensions are required to test software for new track switching systems that were installed last fall between the Harrison and Journal Square stations, the Port Authority said.
Here's what impacted riders need to know, the agency said:

“Free wheelchair-accessible shuttle buses will provide alternate service between the affected stations during the suspensions, operating every seven to 12 minutes, except during early morning hours from 3 to 8 a.m. when buses will operate every 15 to 20 minutes. Riders can find shuttle bus locations by following signage at the affected stations. Customer service agents and Port Authority police officers also will be available to assist riders.”
The schedules and locations of the weekend outages include:

- Additional train service suspension between Journal Sq and Grove St stations from 11:59 p.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday into Saturday and again on Saturdays into Sundays.

NJ TRANSIT SERVICE, NEWARK AIRPORT AIRTRAIN
The upcoming PATH suspensions are coinciding with two other major public transportation projects: one at the Portal Bridge between Secaucus and Kearny, and the other at Newark Airport.
NJ TRANSIT REDUCING TRAIN SERVICE – Some NJ Transit rail riders should expect longer commutes and reduced service in February and March when service is slashed to move a track from a century-old bridge over the Hackensack River to a newer bridge. Customers who take the Morris and Essex, Gladstone Branch, and Montclair-Boonton trains from New Jersey to Penn Station in New York City will instead have to buy tickets to Hoboken. The Atlantic City Rail Line won’t be impacted. The changes will start on Feb. 15 and run through March 15. >> Read More: NJ Transit Temporarily Slashing Service For Construction (What To Know)
SHUTTLE BUSES WILL REPLACE AIRPORT AIRTRAIN – Some commuters flying through Newark Airport who plan to use the AirTrain may find themselves taking shuttle buses instead. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey recently released details about a new construction phase for the agency’s $3.5 billion AirTrain renovation, which is expected to cross the finish line in 2030. The current system will largely remain in operation until the new system opens – but some outages will take place as construction progresses. A “robust shuttle bus system” will be running that serves all airport terminals, rental car facilities and parking locations for impacted travelers, spokespeople said. >> Read More: Service Outage Coming For AirTrain At Newark Airport
