Pedestrian Fatality: Newark Airport Employee Killed On Way To Work

No arrests or summonses are pending for the drivers of the FedEx bus and Honda Accord that struck an Essex County woman, authorities say.

A Newark Liberty International Airport employee died on Monday evening after being struck by two vehicles while walking to work.

A spokesman with the Port Authority of NY/NJ told Patch that the incident was reported at the south end of the terminal on Earhardt Drive near Metro Plex Road at 6:42 p.m.

According to authorities, Komassa Gbobawollie, 71, of East Orange, was struck by two vehicles: a 2015 GLA FedEx Bus driven by an Air Serv employee and a 2008 Honda Accord.

Emergency responders found Gbobawollie in the roadway with traumatic injuries and administered CPR, then transported her to University Hospital in Newark where she was pronounced dead at 7:14 p.m.

No arrests or summons were issued in connection with the fatality, authorities stated.
