Pedestrian Killed In Essex County, UPS Truck And Car Collide: Prosecutors

A delivery truck and a car crashed into each other, sending one of the vehicles careening through a crosswalk and into two pedestrians.

NEWARK, NJ — A pedestrian was killed in Essex County earlier this week after a UPS delivery truck and a car collided, sending one of the vehicles careening through a crosswalk, authorities said Friday.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has released details about the crash, which took place around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Chancellor Avenue and Fabyan Place in Newark.

“A UPS delivery truck traveling northbound on Fabyan Place collided with a vehicle traveling westbound on Chancellor Avenue. Following the collision, the second vehicle struck two pedestrians who were walking westbound in the northern crosswalk of Chancellor Avenue toward Fabyan Place.”

Authorities said one of the pedestrians – Danielle Sadowski, 42, of Elizabeth – was transported to University Hospital in Newark. She was pronounced deceased at 1:18 a.m. on Thursday.

A male pedestrian and the driver of the second vehicle were also transported to University Hospital and treated for minor injuries. The driver of the UPS truck reported no injuries and declined medical treatment, police said.
