Pedestrians Hospitalized After Crash Near Newark High School: Police
Police continue to investigate a car crash that injured multiple people near Arts High School in Newark, authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — Police continue to investigate a car crash that injured multiple people near Arts High School in Newark, authorities said Thursday.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, officers responded to the 500-block of Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard at 10:39 a.m. on Wednesday after getting a call about a two-car crash with two pedestrian victims, both female.
One of the vehicles careened into a wall of the school, police said.

Emergency responders transported the pedestrians and both drivers to University Hospital. The pedestrians were listed in critical condition. Both drivers were reportedly in stable condition, Newark police said Wednesday.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that two people were injured in the crash. An investigation is ongoing. No updates were available as of Thursday afternoon, a spokesperson said.

Multiple news reports identified the injured pedestrians as teachers at East Ward Elementary School. School wasn’t in session at Arts High School at the time of the crash, but teachers were present for a development day.
