Plane Engine Catches Fire At Newark Airport On New Year’s: Police
A United Airlines flight aborted its takeoff at Newark Airport on New Year's Day after its engine caught fire, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — A United Airline flight aborted its takeoff at Newark Airport on New Year’s Day after one of its engines caught fire, authorities said.
According to the Port Authority PBA, emergency responders arrived at United Airlines flight 1753 around 8 a.m. on Jan. 1 after the plane’s right engine caught fire.
The plane aborted its takeoff and the pilot activated the craft’s extinguishing device. Aircraft rescue firefighters then used thermal imaging to confirm that the flames were out, authorities said.
