Police Arrest 2 After Fatal Shooting Inside Newark Home: ECPO
Police arrested two Newark residents after a fatal shooting claimed the life of a 24-year-old victim, authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — Police arrested two men after a fatal shooting claimed the life of a 24-year-old victim in Newark on Sunday.
Johaun Cook, 35, and Altariq Sanders, 32, both of Newark, have been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Sherome Hubbard, 24, also of Newark, authorities said.
Hubbard was shot inside a home on the 200-block of Fairmount Avenue. He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead 6:42 p.m., according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

On Monday, Cook was arrested and charged with reckless manslaughter, unlawful possession of a weapon and hindering apprehension.
Sanders was charged with hindering apprehension, authorities said.

Cook is being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark. Sanders was released on a summons, authorities said Tuesday.
