Police Arrest Accused Murderer In Newark After Fatal Stabbing
A Newark man who allegedly stabbed another Brick City resident to death is in custody, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — A Newark man has been arrested and accused of stabbing another Brick City resident to death, authorities announced Monday.
Michael Townsend Jr., 31, was charged with the murder of Jabari A. Mason, 31, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

“On Friday, March 10 at 11:27 a.m., police responded to a report of a victim lying inside the parking garage on the 400-block of Mt. Prospect Avenue in Newark. Police found Mason suffering from apparent stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:40 a.m.”
Townsend was arrested in Newark on Sunday, authorities said.
In addition to murder, Townsend was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, prosecutors said.
