Police Arrest Newark Man Allegedly Found with Three Handguns

Execute search warrant on North Ward home

An anonymous tip led Newark detectives to seize several handguns Monday night in the city's North Ward, according to authorities.

Det. Eugenio Gonzalez, a police spokesman, said members of Newark Police Department's Gang and Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at Ryan Blake's home on Wakeman Avenue. There, they found a.380 caliber Walther PPK, a loaded .380 caliber semi-automatic Bersa and a loaded, defaced 9mm Taurus, according to Gonzalez.

The spokesman said Blake, 29, was charged with multiple weapons offenses. He had no information about bail or if Blake is in jail.

"This is another example of the community partnering with the police department by providing information of illegal activity that led investigators to obtain a search warrant," said Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio. "I encourage the community to continue calling the departments' 24-hour anonymous tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS."
